Anyone notice the differences between Stefan/Elena’s ‘first meeting’ physically (when Stefan and Elena met at school) and Damon/Elena’s ‘first meeting’? When Elena first met Damon, she was more curious about who he was and what he was doing there in the middle of the night. She seemed like she was randomly getting to know a stranger and she started a conversation with him. It came off as two strangers just getting acquainted, like a friendship or acquaintance. But when Stefan and Elena first met outside of the bathroom after Elena bumped into Stefan, she looked at him and she was staring at him intensely. Like she was ‘recognizing’ Stefan like she had known him before. Something about Stefan was ‘familiar’ to her. And Elena was also tongue tied, she couldn’t get the words out, like she was in some euphoric trance like state. Why? Because Elena was recognizing the connection she had with Stefan. When one meets their true soulmate, they just KNOW. It’s an indescribable feeling that is completely different then anything they have felt with anyone else. Elena and Stefan meeting was an instant recognition. That is what Elena meant when she said to Damon that she fell for him instantly.Because that is what a true soulmate connection is like. It’s like two old lovers or best companions coming back together again, bringing each other back to life, after feeling like forever of being apart. That was what Elena was feeling in that moment when she first met Stefan. And instant connection and recognition on the metaphysical level. Because the deepest, strongest connection that Stefan and Elena share is on a metaphysical level, it’s not the physical but the spiritual. I watched both first meetings between Elena/Stefan and Elena/Damon and there is a STRONG, strong difference between the two.
